Theists, why does God allow suffering..

..specifically, the suffering of animals.

you can talk about free will/sin/people choosing to not listen to god etc to explain human suffering being allowed.. but how can you love a god that allows animals, that haven't sinned or chosen to not have anything to do with god, to have their short lives ended in often long, drawn out, painful ways.

i could list stories i've read that would probably make you feel ill, but i'm not looking to shock anyone or start an emotional debate.

i have no real friends!.

i have always been extremely active in every aspect of the org, since childhood.

A whole knew world can open for you. Each persons situation is unique. Some suggestion is pursuing higher education at a community college. Taking one or two courses a semester can expand your mind and help you meet new people.

It is possible for you to feel worst in the coming days and months which can lead to depression. Keep an eye on your emotional state as such it can lead to a bad outcome. I've seen in my old congregation of suicide plus members of this board because of depression.

A true unconditional friend is a rarity even in family.

sold ducks today opposite JW cart

today my husband and i sold plastic ducks for the annual duck racing fund raising event opposite a jw cart.

in the 2hour period we sold over a 100 ducks putting our jw training to good use proactively approaching people, overcoming objections and generally wishing people success.

cantleave went round the local businesses selling to the shops and generally was received positively.

I was working on my college degree six years ago and would see elderly ones sit on a bench holding up a Watchtower. They said nothing and did nothing. Though I've been inactive for quite some time at that point it still didn't seem the usual hype I recall from my youth. I did street witnessing and I never would just stand in one placing holding a magazine.

Those witnesses might as well of been invisible to the young college student. I don't see what the WT has to offer young people to be interested. I think religion can have a valuable use in our society but sadly it seems just a black hole for ones money.

i just found this out last night.

(preface: this is a husband and wife that i have come to be friends with after leaving the borg, they are christians).

we were sitting around visiting last night and having a good time when my friend starts in on illegal immigration and politics and starts throwing out his hate speech which eventually turns to homosexuals.

I had an Elder tell me once that God created dinosaurs to shape the earth. He stated if you look at them they are like large bull dozers and heavy equipment. So god used them to dig out ravines and build mountains. He actually believed this.

I am surprised that I survived my childhood with all the wacky shet I was taught. I remember studying the evolution book about three times and then with the revelation book about three times; it was no wonder I was confused.

It would have no impact on me. Just my mother is in and my sister but they wouldn't shun me. They know a lot of the teachings are BS but want a belief system.

Why do my farts smell like rotten egg? A recent Questions from young readers in the WatchTower magazine. The answer is quite profounding and will make all Atheist convert to Theism.

The gaseous substance in our digestive system has many sources of origin. It can come from the air molecules while speaking or eating. This gas can move through our intestines from our circulatory system. Then various processes occur: such as a multitude of God created bacteria present in our digestive tract to help break down material releasing gas. The odor that comes from fart is due to presence of small quantities of hydrogen sulfide as well as skatole in it. Sulfur is present in both of these compounds that produce a smelly fart.

Clearly, this complicated system in forming smelly farts is an indication of a divine plan indeed. Imagaine how many Atoms it takes to form all that gas.

I have several degrees but admittedly my English grammar is poor. I get corrected often but I don't mind it. I try to learn from the correction regardless of intent. In a forum like this, I expect some to correct me. I used to use the word "irregardless" in my speech all the time. I was corrected that this word was not standard and I should just say/write regardless. I appreciated the feedback and now notice even news casters use the word.

A degree is meaningless if you lack the skill in communicating your ideas. I remember sending an email to Gawker site some time ago and wrote it in less than twenty minutes. It was very detailed but I took no time in editing or proofreading. In my mind it was just an informal email to provide some details on an issue they were covering. To my surprise it was listed on their site and was the top topic for several days. The problem was the letter was poorly written and many attacked the grammatical inconsistency of the letter and ignored the content. Since then I've been working on improving my written grammar.

Education and knowledge is very important. Just remember it needs to come from www.jw.org

Your final WTF? Moment!

it was a long time coming for me.....when i read about the extened generations, after being raised on1914 being the be all end all, and millions would never die....that was the end.

i was part of the 1975 fiasco, the 6 month only truth book studies, suffered through a disifellowshipping and their version of a rewind.

i finally am free and hope others can eventually look in instead of inside looking out!

I had many WTF moments like others; especially the 1995 WT on 1914. That same year I graduated highschool and got a retail job. I was working overnights at this store in FT Myers, FL in 1999. I was only making $9.95 an hour but I met these two brothers working the same shift. One looked like he was in his 60's and the other late 40's early 50's. They were making around the same as me and was trying to support their family. They were nice men but I couldn't imagine struggling as an old man and not have a pot to piss in.

I was only in my early twenties then and had contributed to my 401k and IRA. Neither of these men knew nothing about retirement accounts or investing. I had more saved at 22 then they had at 50 and 62 combined. Now these men, if they are alive, are 65 and 77.

The relentless attacks on higher education and pursuing a career was it for me. I'm sadden from the personal stories I've read here of those who gave up their dreams in the 60's and 70's. Now they are older and feel they've been cheated.

i am not much of a reader as i have two many distractions, but i fancy a challenging read, so please list any book that has changed your entire world view on everything.

i remember as a teenager buying at a yard sale, norman vincent peales " the power of positive thinking" and at the time that had a big impact on me.

but i am a little bit more in to " realistic positive thinking" now..
